Divergent dislocation of the elbow in a 3-year-old

2006
Dislocation of the paediatric elbow with associated disruption of the proximal radio-ulnar joint (synonyms divergent, transverse divergent, posterior divergent dislocation) has been reported rarely in the world literature. This case is the 15th reported in the world literature in the last 23 years. Our patient is the youngest of these 15 cases. The injury was diagnosed by clinical examination and plain radiographs. Closed reduction was easily achieved by: elbow flexion to 908; traction in the humeral axis; and a two-stage reduction manoeuvre.
