Influence of oil polarity on efficiency of corrosion inhibitors

1975
1. The indices of corrosion-inhibitor efficiency in oils are extremal functions of the liquid polarity. The maximum effects of the additives in this study are manifested at levels of the dielectric constant corresponding to the maximum value of this index for petroleum oils. 2. An explanation has been advanced for the relation between corrosion-inhibitor action and polarity of the medium. In selecting additives of this type, oil polarity and possible changes in oil polarity should be taken into account.
