Design and Development of a Wearable Device Interfaced with Smart-Phone for Measuring Student's Health Parameter and Improving their Academic Performance

2017
The most pivotal factor which determines the student’s academic success & accomplishment is their Psychological health. The effects of stress and sleep deprivation often adversely impacts student’s performance, hence developing a wearable system/solution to capture and analyze the data obtained, would help mitigate the risks and improve the overall well-being of the students. A small survey consisting of a questionnaire on the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Depression Anxiety Stress Scale (DASS) is carried out to select the students at the college campus. A five sensor, wearable systems, in the form factor of a wristband is built which works together in conjunction and does a real-time data capture. The data collected by wearable wristband is then analyzed by Advance Data Aggregation Analysis Technique (ADAAT) that accurately & systematically categorizes the students into group of mild, moderate, high and severe sleep quality disorders as well as their stress level. During this session, analyzed data is merged with the student’s CGPA. With the help of our system, optimized cause for degraded health and low academic performance could be determined & a solution to overcome health problem is provided, thus improving their psychological health and enhancing academic performance.
