Portrait of a giant deep-seated magmatic conduit system: The Seiland Igneous Province

2018
• The Ediacaran (580–560 Ma) Seiland Igneous Province (SIP), we hypothesize, is a giant magmatic conduit system at 25–35 km depths conveying thousands of Km 3 of dense mafic ultramafic melts from the asthenosphere to the lithosphere. It is the most deeply exposed parts of the Central Iapetus Magmatic Provence (CIMP) and probably forms above a mantle hot spot.
