Space Infrastructure for 2020

Abstract : This report summarizes JASON's 1999 summer study on new approaches to the infrastructure needed for building, launching, powering and servicing earth-orbiting satellites that could be applied to military missions. We were charged to consider how recent development in broad areas of technology could be harnessed to enable new, qualitatively different ways for operating in space that would reduce mission costs--capital and operating---while increasing flexibility and performance.
