Structural Studies of Two Carbohydrate-Containing AL Chains (Λll) AL NØV And AL MC.

The amino acid sequence of the AL chains NOV and MC were elucidated from peptides derived from digestion of the proteins with trypsin, thermolysin,chymotrypsin,pyrroglutamate amino peptidase, Endoproteinase Asp-N and Staphylococcus aureus V8 protease, and from cleavage of the proteins with CNBr and BNPS-skatole.Analyses revealed that both AL chains contained carbohydrate attached at different regions. Distinct differences were observed in the amino acid sequence, however, both AL chains were shown to have the most extensive homology to subgroup VλII
