COLLAB: Conflicts and Sentiments in chats

2018
In Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning (CSCL) situations, several factors influence the success of the learning. One of them are the conflicts that generate negative emotions, which are counterproductive to the learning. In this article, we describe an application to support the communication of collaborative groups when the members work together to make collaborative activities. All the interactions made through the communication channel provided by this system are stored. Additionally, the system provide functionalities through which students contribute with the automatic tagging of the interactions when they point out moods and conflict situations. Data generated by this system will be employed to build and validate automatic classifiers to recognize conflicts in synchronous dialogues through the analysis of sentiments exchanged in the interactions.
