MORPHOLOGICAL AND OPTO-STRUCTURAL FEATURES OF THE BUFFER FILM CdS DESIGNED FOR IMMEDIATE APPLICATIONS UPON THE SECOND-GENERATION SOLAR CELLS
2008
Cadmium Sulphide (CdS) thin films of 1 micrometer thickness were prepared by Modified Chemical Bath Deposition (MCBD) technique. The effect of deposition temperature and heat treatments were investigated by means of X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and optical measurements. High quality films were obtained with a well reproducibility. The obtained films were highly transmitting in the infrared region. In the visible region, absorption coefficient of about 10 4 to 10 5 cm -1 was measured. The band gap value was found to be decreased further to the heat treatment in Vacuum at 400°C for one hour.
