Environmental economic dispatch towards multiple emissions control coordination considering a variety of clean generation technologies

2015
Power industry contributes much to the air pollution. A variety of clean generation technologies have been adopted gradually by generators to control the emissions of nitrogen oxide (NO x ), sulfur dioxide (SO 2 ), and particular matters (PM), imposing significant impacts on the operation of power plants as well as power systems. This paper studies the emission characteristics towards multiple pollutants, namely NO x , SO 2 , and PM, of coal- and gas-fired generators equipped with different emission control devices. An environmental economic dispatch (EED) model is formulated to coordinate the above emissions. Some special characters like the forced exit of selective catalytic reduction (SCR) at low output, the burn mode switching of combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) are considered in the model. Case study shows the effectiveness of the coordinated EED model in reducing multiple air pollutants.
