Structure and properties of CaP coatings formed by micro-arc oxidation and modified by ZnO nanoparticles

2020
Micro-arc calcium phosphate coatings modified by positively charged ZnO nanoparticles were studied in this work. The dispergating durations of suspensions with ZnO nanopowder were chosen as 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 min. The scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) technique, surface roughness measurement (Ra) and zeta potential measurements were employed to investigate the properties of the coatings. By increasing the dispergating durations of ZnO suspensions from 10 to 60 min the coatings zeta potential increase from –63 to –53 mV. Calcium phosphate coatings with different range of surface roughness (3.3–4.7 µm), porosity (30–43%) and zeta potential (–63±– 53 mV) were fabricated.
