A CLINICOPATHOLOGICAL STUDY OF LOBULAR CARCINOMA OF THE BREAST

1993
Twenty nine resected cases of lobular carcinoma of the breast, which were operated on in Sapporo National Hospital in a recent 24-year period were clinicopathologically reviewed. The reports of lobular carcinoma of the breast are relatively rare in Japan. The incidence of lobular carcinoma in this clinic is increasing these days. The prognosis of Stage I or II cases was good, and the 10-year survival rates were 100%. There were two cases (6.9%) of bilateral involvement and three cases (10.3%) of multicentric involvement. Lymph nodes metastases were more frequent in the cases with dominant stromal desmoplastic reaction, than in those with less reaction (p<0.05).
