Tandem bearing assembly of temperature-related with a device for compensating bearing tension

2006
The invention relates to a tandem bearing assembly (40, 40 '), for example for the storage of the main spindle (41) of a machine tool, having at least two axially adjacent rolling bearings (42, 43), each having an inner ring (44, 45) and each having a the outer ring (46, 47) between which rolling elements (56, 57) are arranged, wherein the two inner rings (44, 45) in an axial direction as well as the two outer rings (46, 47) (in the opposite axial direction by means of associated stops 48 , 49) are fixed to a shaft (41) or on a machine housing (55). To compensate for both temperature-induced differences in length of such a shaft from the bearing seat and of temperature-induced radial stresses within the tandem bearing assembly (40, 40 ') provides for the invention that the outer ring (46) of a rolling bearing (42) at least indirectly and without an intermediate layer the other outer ring (47) against an axial stop (49) rests and that the outer ring (47) of the other roller bearing (43) is supported via at least one spring element (50) is also at least indirectly on this stop (49).
