The Perspectives and Practice of PLC HomePlug AV Modems Application in the Network Devices and Industrial Tools

This paper proposes application of HomePlug AV power line communication modems in local area networks and network devices in order to overcome the limitation of transmission of Ethernet data over copper twisted pair in the distance more than 100 meters. HPAV modems allows to improve functionality of Ethernet switches: transmit data over copper wires with speed more than 100 Mbps at distances few hundred meters and combine tens of IP devices in one network with use of one pair of wires only. Paper presents practical example of HPAV modem application in the unique task about IP video signals transmission through the copper cable with length more than 700 meters.
