Novel benzophenone derivative and its use

1989
PURPOSE: To provide a benzophenone derivative cross-linkable in air by ultraviolet ray and useful as a hot melt adhesive of mineral material such as roof tile by including a specified monomer in a (meth)acrylate copolymer by polymerization. CONSTITUTION: (a) A (meth)acrylate of a 1-24C alkanol, 50-99.99 wt.%, is reacted with (b) a comonomer selected from vinyl ester of a 1-20C saturated carboxylic acid, 3-5C α,β-monoolefinic unsaturated mono- and/or di-carboxylic acid and/or its amide, olefinic unsaturated tertiary amino compound and the like to provide a (meth)acrylate copolymer (a) having a K-value of 15-100. In the component (a), 0.01-10 wt.% of (b) a monomer of formula I [X is a 1-3C alkyl or, as occasion demands, phenyl substituted n-pieces of Y; Y is -H, -CF 3 , a 1-4C -O-alkyl, a 1-4C alkyl-COO-, halogen, -CN, -COOH, or -OH not situated in 0-position; (n) is 0-4; Z is formulas II-IV; R is -H or a 1-4C alkyl; A is a 2-14C alkylene or (poly)oxalkylene] is contained by polymerization.
