Do We Need NEW National Standards in Mathematics And Science

As long as teachers have the time, information, and leadership to help make decisions about essential learnings; the opportunity to imple ment changes in curriculum materials and teaching strategies; the abil ity to use assessments to improve student learning; and the support of the community to do their best, our students have a chance to be "first in the world in mathematics and science."
