Clinical Pathological Correlation

Careful correlation of the clinical presentation and the microscopic findings in the skin biopsy is essential for accurate classification of cutaneous lymphomas. Similar histopathologic findings may be observed in different lymphomas as well as benign mimics. Ignoring clinical or pathologic findings will often lead to misdiagnosis. In addition to the need for adequate communication between the clinician and the pathologist, it is important for the pathologist to be familiar with clinical terms.
