The teaching-learning strategy based on problems (PBL) is an educational proposal for the development of the process "to learn to learn ". The educational problems used in tutorial sessions stimulate significant and critical learning as well as the integration of the disciplines. We evaluated the educational problem that reports a case of poisoning for ingestion of cassava- angry, based on a real situation and introduced to the students of the first series of the medical course. We used the quantitative and the qualitative approach to content analysis to report the students' perception about the effectiveness of the educational problem as trigger learning. For the students, this biomedical model of cellular hypoxia favored the teaching learning process, when supplying a contextualized real situation, as well as the articulation of psychological, social and biological dimensions. The evaluation accomplished by the students validated the perception of the construction team that the problem "Embitters Mixture" it is a model of effective integration in the pedagogic strategy of PBL and it supplied important subsidies for improvement of the educational work.
