A single chip 1/2" frame transfer CCD color image sensor

1984
A 1/2" single chip color image sensor with 400(H) × 504(V) pixels is described. High sensitivity and high horizontal resolution are obtained for the CCD sensor of a frame transfer organization by making use of a Cross-Gate structure and of a mosaic color filter. The Cross-Gate structure is introduced in the imaging area in order to make SiO 2 exposed windows which promise increase in photosensitivity. A mosaic color filter can be applied by using two effective methods of suppressing crosstalks between vertically adjacent CCD bits. Blooming is successfully suppressed, and for 10-percent vertical height illumination smear signal is reduced to 0.04 % of the illumination signal using a frame shift frequency of 3.58 MHz.
