Collision-induced vibrational energy relaxation in 1Au glyoxal-d2

1980
Abstract Efficiencies for collision-induced vibrational energy transfer from the single vibronic level 7 2 of S 1 glyoxal-d 2 , have been obtained with the noble gases as collision partners. The measurements have been performed in the one-collision limit. The dependence of these efficiencies on the reduced mass of the collision pair indicates that vibrational energy transfer is induced on the repulsive part of the intermolecular potential. Time-resolved measurements are shown to provide a method to determine at which pressure effects due to consecutive collisions become Significant.
