The invention relates to a method of cooling exhaust gas (A) of an internal combustion engine (38) of a vehicle, wherein the exhaust gas (A) by means of a heat exchanger (1) is air-cooled indirectly. Furthermore, it relates to a method in which the exhaust gas (A) through regenerative heat transfer through channel walls (W) of the heat exchanger (1) is cooled.
