Border Effect and Standardization of Cropping Patterns of Wheat

2003
Based on the results of studying on the border effect of wheat in different strip planting patterns, the wheat yields were analyzed and generalized in theory, the term of relaying or intercropping superiority (RIS) was proposed, and the method for evaluating planting patterns, namely RIS1 or RIS1 was suggested. By practicing this method in experiment and production application, it was proved that the pattern of "20+40 cm" was a better one because of its good popularity in multiple cropping, good adaptation to different cultivation conditions and high yielding both of wheat and other crops.
