Literature research of Chinese medical syndromes of gout in intermission and chronic phase

Objective: To provide a basis for traditional Chinese medical(TCM) treatment of Gout by seeking the TCM syndrome features of intermission and chronic phase of gout.Methods: Combined the computer search and the artificial retrieval methods to retrospectively summarize domestic journals related literature from January 1,1997 to June 1,2011.Results: 48 literatures met the requirements,including total 1 566 cases of TCM syndromes of intermission and chronic phase of gout.The distributions of major TCM syndromes(the top 8th)were phlegm-blood stasis syndrome(35.06%),phlegm stasis syndrome(14.88%),deficiency syndrome of both liver and kidney yin(12.96%),syndrome of long blockage to weakened body resistance(7.92%),syndrome of dampness-retention due to spleen deficiency(7.47%),retention of sputum-heat(5.36%),retention of damp-heat(3.83%),syndrome of deficiency of the liver and kidney(3.13%).Conclusion: The major TCM syndrome types of gout are syndrome of blockade of phlegm stasis,syndrome of blockade of turbid phlegm,yin deficiency syndrome of liver and kidney.
