Determination of structure and parameters of winding equivalent circuit involving eddy currents

A procedure for obtaining the equivalent winding circuit structure with electrical parameters on the basis of the known structure of the equivalent magnetic circuit is developed. The parameters of winding equivalent electric and magnetic circuits are determined by two methods based on the measured dependence of winding impedance on frequency and/or the recorded response of the winding current to the voltage step. The parameters of the field winding of a separately excited DC machine are determined by both methods. The method that is based on the measured winding impedance makes the equivalent circuit diagrams applicable in a wider frequency range than that with the parameters identified by the method based on voltage/current responses in the time domain. Both methods give approximately equal results in the low-frequency range. >
