Primary School Students Through The Eyes Of Their Parents During Covid-19 Pandemic

In this study, the experiences of primary school students during the new type of coronavirus pandemic were examined through the eyes of their parents In this direction, the study was carried out with phenomenology, which is one of the qualitative research patterns The study group of the research consists of elementary school students and their parents who were educated in Istanbul in the 2019-2020 academic year and determined through convenience sampling The data of the research were collected through semi-structured interview forms The data obtained were analyzed by content analysis The findings of the research are explained by themes such as fearful-anxiety, friendship relations, excessive use of digital tools, academic success, distance education process, the role of the parent, and communication with the teacher According to the findings;students and their parents felt fearful and anxious in this process With the closing of schools, students turned to digital tools for fun and to spend time It has been determined that there is a decrease in the academic success of students with distance education and parents have difficulty in managing this process In addition, students wanted to communicate more with their teachers during the pandemic process Based on the findings of the study, suggestions for teachers, parents, and future studies were presented © 2020 All Rights Reserved
