Use of the method of acoustic emission for determining the mechanical properties of pipe steels

Signals of acoustic emission (AE) arising in the process of uniaxial stretching of specimens of pipe steels of various grades heat treated under conditions of commercial production are studied. The AE signals are classified into groups according to the shape of the spectral density curve. A classification including four basic groups of signals and their modifications is suggested.
