The theoretical basis of Microbial fuel cell includes three areas that are thermodynam-ics,reaction kinetics and Enzyme kinetics.Knowing from the analysis on the reaction kinetics,the electrochemical reaction of glucose in the anode chamber of microbial fuel cells is heterogeneous which can only happen at the junction of anode electrode and anode solution.The voltage loss of Microbial fuel cell includes activation loss,ohmic loss and concentration loss.Activation loss can be reduced through the ways of reducing solution temperature and improving the exchange current density.Ohmic loss can be reduced through the method of using high-conductivity solution in an-ode chamber and cathode chamber,reducing the distance between electrodes and increasing sec-tional area of the reactor.Concentration loss can be reduced through the method of reducing solu-tion temperature and increasing limitation current density.
