ESTUDIO DE GENOTOXICIDAD DE LAS MUESTRAS DE LODO DE UN RÍO CONTAMINADO POR EFLUENTES INDUSTRIALES

1990
The genotoxicity of sludge samples, obtained from a watercourse contaminated with industrial wastewaters, was tested by means of Saccharomyces cerevisiae D 7 strain. The dried sludge samples were sequentially extracted either with 1) hexane, ethyl ether and methanol or 2) ethyl ether and methanol. After evaporation to dryness, extracts were suspended in dimethylsulfoxide for biological testing. The resuits obtained showed an increase in the induced gene conversion as well as the induced genetic reversion frequencies in the tester strain. Toxicity of different extracts was also tested. The sequential extraction 1 (hexane, ethyl ether, methanol) showed the best performance for the detection of genotoxic activity in sludge, samples.
