Review and computer simulation of Australian standard on testing solar water heaters

Abstract The Australian Standard for testing the thermal performance of solar domestic hot water systems is described along with some of the developments and rationale behind the final document. Computer modeling of systems as well as actual tests carried out in the CSIRO solar simulator were used to develop the Standard, and these are described. Also discussed is how the results from the standard test may be used to predict the performance of the system under different environmental conditions.
