Necesidad social de la cultura socio-médica del especialista en medicina general integral desde la superación profesional

Introduction: society permanently requires highly qualified professionals, not only doctors who just diagnose and apply treatments but who also respond to the needs of the individual, the family and the community and with the specificities of their profession, they become sensitive to the suffering of others without limiting their integral professional performance. Objective: to describe the theoretical and practical elements of the socio- medical culture in general medicine specialists in Granma from the professional development as a social necessity. Method: a descriptive study was made to expose the theoretical and practical elements of the socio-medical culture of General Medicine specialists in Granma, from October 2013 to June 2014. Results: the results respond to the facts obtained from the diagnosis made. Conclusions : the socio-medical culture in General Medicine specialists in Granma shows limitations in the theoretical and practical concept of its elements  towards the socio-medical approach that must prevail, which reveals the social need for a research from the professional advancement.
