Low-temperature sintering and microwave dielectric properties of Li2ZnTi3O8 ceramics

2013
Abstract The Li 2 ZnTi 3 O 8 ceramics with MgO–B 2 O 3 –SiO 2 (MBS) addictive have been prepared by the conventional solid-state ceramic route. The effects of MBS glass on the sintering temperature, microstructure and microwave dielectric properties of Li 2 ZnTi 3 O 8 ceramics were investigated. The X-ray diffraction results showed that Li 2 ZnTi 3 O 8 doped with MBS glass was a single-phase without forming secondary phase. It was found that the addition of MBS to the Li 2 ZnTi 3 O 8 ceramics effectively lowered the sintering temperature from 1075 °C to 900 °C while maintaining good microwave dielectric properties. Especially, when the glass content was 2.0 wt%, the ceramics sintered at 900 °C for 4 h exhibited excellent microwave dielectric properties: e r =25.0, Q × ƒ =56,200 GHz, τ ƒ =−9.9 ppm/°C.
