Location of the triplet excimer level in pyrene

Abstract Triplet energy transfer to a guest in a pyrene host matrix is used to locate the triplet excimer level in solid pyrene. The location is found to be between 15 800 cm −1 and 16 500 cm −1 . A mixed triplet excimer from pyrene-1, 12 benzperylene is reported.
