Reference Tables of Two-Locus Haplotype Frequencies for All MHC Marker Loci

The following frequency tables were the basis for the population analysis of the Ninth International Histocompatibility Workshop (M. P. Baur et al., Population Analysis on the Basis of Deduced Haplotypes from Random Families, this volume), where the definition of the represented three major ethnic groups - CAU, ORI, NEG -, the computational procedure, and the description of the resulting parameter estimates are given). Due to the small amount of data available from healthy non-selected Negroid families, we included for this population the haplotypes of unrelated healthy individuals from disease families. We are aware that this introduces a bias in case of strong HLA-disease associations. Some of this distortion will cancel out due to the multiplicity of the various diseases included. On the other hand, we are confident that the information on race-specific distribution of haplotypes and disequilibria gained by this - admittedly unusual - measure is not influenced to a significant degree by this bias.
