Víctimas de abuso sexual en la infancia. Estudio descriptivo

FADA Association for the Assessment and Prevention of Child Sexual Abuse was founded in 1997 to offer psychological and legal assessment and attention services to child sexual abuse victims. Also, FADA offers training to professionals from the health, legal, and childhood areas. The study describes the characteristics of the population (n = 593) attended in 2005. Great part of the victims was adult women (44.86%). The services most frequently requested were those related to the psychological area REVISTA D ESTUDIS DE LA VIOLENCIA Num. 1, Gener – Marc 2007 www.icev.cat 3 (90.48%). In victims younger than 18 years old, maternal figures (50.93%) or professionals related to the victim (32.20%) contacted with the association. Adult victims put in contact with the association by themselves (67.91). Results showed the majority of the aggressors were paternal figures (38.04%), other relatives (29.19%), or acquaintances (17.70%). Fondling, superficially or underneath the clothes, was the most frequent type of sexual abuse in the sample (64.39%). The results showed the high frequency of sexual abuse in Spain and underline the need of specialized attention to child sexual abuse victims, their families and society.
