PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for producing a carbon nanostructure, which supppress the generation of a tar-like by-product and form a carbon nanostructure with high efficiency. SOLUTION: The apparatus 2 for producing a carbon nanostructure with high efficiency by a raw material blowing system comprises: a catalyst 12 disposed in a reaction tube 4; a heater 6 disposed to heat the vicinity of the catalyst 12 to a temperature region in which a carbon nanostructure 14 is formed; a raw material gas supply pipe 8 disposed to introduce a raw material gas into the reaction tube 4 in such a way that the tip 8a of the supply pipe is located near the catalyst 12; and a preheater 9 which preheats the raw material gas supply pipe 8 to a temperature region in which a tar-like by-product is not formed from the raw material gas. Since a tar-like substance is not formed in the raw material gas supply pipe and the raw material gas is blown over an intermediate temperature on the catalyst at a stroke, reaction probability increases and the formation yield of the carbon nanostructure increases. Since most of the raw material gas is consumed, a tar-like substance is not formed also in the reaction tube 4. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
