Business Model Transition using the Integrated Product, Process and Manufacturing System Development Reference Model Transition from Product Centric to Product-Service System

Manufacturing companies are evolving to have Product-Service Systems (PSS). To have a smooth and structured transition, the Business Model (BM) need to guide the change. This paper focuses on the demonstration of the Integrated Product, Process Manufacturing System Development Reference Model(IPPMD-RM) as an effective tool to make the Business Model Transition from product focus systems to PSS. It was necessary to describe the factors that develop a better BM. The Smart x Sensing Reference Model (S2-RM) was used to structure the vision of the enterprise. The resulting model was proved in a Mexican enterprise that manufactures Reconfigurable Micro Machine Tools (Rμ MT). Three different scenarios with distinct focuses were applied in the case study.
