The Significance of Fibular Fractures on Tibial Shaft Fractures

We investigated how fibular fractures, fracture dislocations at the ankle joint and infective cases.We examined 137 cases, and divided them into groups according to age, type, position, open or closed cases, and therapy, excluding bone graft and pseudarthrosis.We radiographically determined periods of bone healing from the time of surgery to the time when the fracture site could bear partial weight without internal fixation.Results showed that the presence of fibular fractures shortened the period of bone healing.We are sure dynamization will contribute to bone healing.
