Valorization of the biomass from a pharmaceutical waste bybiosorption of organic pollutants.

2011
This study focuses on the possible use of Pleurotus mutilus Waste Skin almonds to remove Crystal violet. Batch kinetic studies were carried out as a function of contact time, biomass amt., dye concn. and temp. to det. the decolorization efficiency of the adsorbent. The Langmuir, Freundlich and Temkin models were used to describe the isotherm data, and it was shown that the Freundlich and the Temkin models described the isotherm data with high correlation coeffs. An empirical modeling was performed by using a 23 full factorial design and a regression equation for adsorption of Crystal violet was detd. from the data. Finally the proposed adsorbent was successfully used for the decolorization of the dye in synthetic wastewater conditions. [on SciFinder(R)]
