High Power Density Mil-Grade Multiple Output Dc-Dc Converter

This paper represents the design and implementation of high-power density MIL-grade multiple output dc-dc converter with various salient features. A very compact multiple dc-dc converters have a critical role to play in present defense/military applications to meet their requirements with all protection features including inbuilt EMI/EMC filter and MIL-STD requirements as per applications. Proposed converter is realized with four flyback converters to deliver 8outputs with UCC28C43 primary-side controller and current mode control method is implemented to make the feedback-system more stable. It operates at switching frequency of 200 KHz and lossless snubber is used to improve the overall efficiency of converter. Converter has following salient features like - RPP (Reverse Polarity Protection), IOVP (Input Overvoltage Protection), IUVP (Input Undervoltage Protection), SCP (Short Circuit Protection), Inhibit and External synchronization. Converter has efficiency of more than 75% in all operating input voltage range (18V~36V) and built in a very compact size of 6.5” X 3.3” X 0.61”.
