A novel perfluoroalkyl-containing bisulfite adduct of polyisocyanate: Synthesis and finishing of cotton fabrics

2005
A perfluoroalkyl-containing diol (F-diol) is introduced into polyisocyanate, and novel bifunctional perfluoroalkyl-containing bisulfite adduct of polyisocyanate (FBAP) is successfully prepared after blocking with sodium metabisulfite. FBAP is applied to cotton fabrics by a pad-dry-cure process. The treated fabrics show good durable press and water and oil repellent properties: the dry wrinkle recovery angle reaches 210 degrees and the water and oil repellent ratings are 100 and 6, respectively. After. 10 washing cycles, the water repellent rating is still 90 and the oil repellent rating is 5.
