Distributive properties of PAHs in shallow underground water in a waste electrical appliances (machines) dismantling site

2011
To identify the concentration and distribution of PAHs(polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons) in shallow groundwater of waste electrical appliances (machines) dismantling site, 19 groups of groundwater samples and 16 species of PAHs were tested with gas chromatography. The results show that the distribution of PAHs in groundwater and the location of dismantling sites, surface lithology and shallow groundwater flow are significantly correlated. The highest concentration of PAHs detected in the center of the dismantling site is 0.05µg/l, the highest detection rate of single-target is pyrene, reaching 52.2%. Fluoranthene, naphthalene, and phenanthrene are also higher concentration. According to the detection indicators and the spatial distribution of concentration, we conclude that the pollution of PAHs in shallow groundwater is mainly due to the oil sources.
