ABORDAGEM INTERDISCIPLINAR NA SÍNDROME DO ENCARCERAMENTO: RELATO DE CASO

Purpose. Neurodegenerative diseases, such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or brain stem injuries caused by stroke or traumatic brain injury, can lead to a condition called locked-in syndrome (SE). The multiprofessional team is fundamental in the process of recovery of these patients, because through the interdisciplinary, an individualized therapeutic plan is developed, it offers training to the caregivers, besides directing the individual to networks of basic and specialized attention. Therefore, it is essential to report the interdisciplinary work with individuals diagnosed with SE, guiding the clinical practice of other professionals. Case description. This article describes the case of a male patient from Sao Jose do Rio Preto, who sought medical care in a prompt care unit in the city of origin, since at the time, he presented sudden difficulty in walking and severe dysarthrophonia, evolving to loss of voluntary movement of the four limbs, aphasia of expression and preservation of spontaneous ocular movement, compatible with SE. Conclusion. Through the exchange of knowledge and practices among the team, it was possible to assess the establishment of comprehensive care, through the various objectives listed by each area of care, which were directed to the same purpose: the increase of the quality of life of the subject.
