Empreendedorismo Feminino no Brasil: Gênese e Formação de Um Campo de Pesquisa

The first studies on female entrepreneurship in Brazil emerged in the late 1990s. Since then, the subject has been the object of study in a growing number of articles published in Brazilian journals. This article presents the results of a review of Brazilian literature on the subject. The aim of this study was to present the dynamics of the emergence and formation of this field of study in Brazil, highlighting its genesis, research approaches, study themes and results. The search for the works on female entrepreneurship published in Brazil was made in several sources of information, revealing 56 articles between 2000 and 2015. The analysis of this set of papers allowed its classification into three groups: conceptual analyses and theoretical propositions; qualitative studies; and quantitative studies. The contribution of this article focuses on the identification of the genesis of studies on female entrepreneurship in Brazil and a description of the main results of the most significant studies in this field. Finally, the text closes pointing to suggestions for future studies, as well as the need for a theoretical systematization about female entrepreneurship in Brazil.
