Analysis of the impurities in industrial ε‐caprolactam. Hypothesis of formation

Analysis of an industrial e-caprolactam by gas–liquid chromatography has been carried out using different stationary phases and operating conditions. The impurities in the e-caprolactam are identified and hypotheses about their formation are presented. In some cases the presence either in cyclohexane or cyclohexanone of the possible impurity-producing compounds is shown.
