A simple and effective method for Cr(VI) analysis in dyed leather
2004
Spectrophotometric detection of Cr(VI) by 1,5-diphenylcarbazide derivatization method recommended by the IUC-18 protocol suffers seriously due to the interference of colorants present in dyed leather extracts. Recently a C-18 reverse phase cartridge clean up for the color removal was recommended but the method has limitations. The present paper suggests an alternate material, which serves better for the removal of interfering colors. This method is rapid, very effective, and economic for the detection of Cr(VI) in finished leathers.
