Neuronavigation assisted transsphenoidal microsurgery for pituitary microadenoma

Objective To assess the application of neuronavigation in the tanssphenoidal microsurgery for pituitary microadenomas.Methods Twenty five transsphenoidal operations were performed for pituitary microadenomas , assisted by neuronavigation to instruct surgery approach and localize the situation and range of the tumors.Results All of the tumors were totally removed during operations, which were confirmed by postoperative MRI, without serious complications.Conclusion As applyed in assisting tanssphenoidal microsurgery for pituitary microadenomas, neuronavigation is useful to increase the total resection rate and reduce the surgical complications.
