Balloon endoscopy and capsule endoscopy are useful in the diagnosis of small bowel lesions in Whipple's disease.

Whipple's disease is a rare chronic systemic infection that affects the digestive system and can be lethal.1) Its characteristic endoscopic findings are white shaggy villi in the duodenum and jejunum2,3) , and capsule endoscopy (CE) has been reported to be useful in confirming the extent of intestinal lesions3) . However, there were only a few reports that show the usefulness of balloon endoscopy (BE)4) .
