ASTRONOMICALMULTIBANDIMAGEFUSIONANDRESTORATION USING PYRAMIDALANALYSISANDMARKOVIANSEGMENTATION

2005
This paper deals withnoised astronomical multiband imagefusion andrestoration. Thewavelet domain iswell adapted forsuchtasks. Infact, intensity fluctuations corresponding tothenoise aremostimportant atthefinest resolution andrelated details coefficients decrease quickly asthescale increases. Realstructures intheimagewill therefore lead tolarger detail coefficients values. This information canbesuitably combined todetect andfuse real structures inallbands. Inthis work, wepresent anew fusion-restorati on scheme forastronomical multispectral data, operating infour steps. Atfirst, apyramidal algorithm with onewavelet analyzes all spectral bands leading toapyramid ofdetails coefficients foreachone.Secondly, thedetail information forallwavelengths arecombined inaunique Multiband-Multiresolution Pyramidal tofeed ahierarchical Markovian classifier based onaquadtree topology, providing amultiscale twoclasses segmentation mapmasking ateachscale small enough coefficients. Atthird, theselected coefficients aremerged leading toa unique pyramidal structure ofdetail coefficients. Finally, this resulting structure isused with aniterative reconstruction procedure torecover thedenoised fused image. The Markovian quadtree models spatial, interscale andinterbandcorrelation together allowing areal whole cubeinformation fusion.
