Clinical characteristics of selectivity of proteinuria in patients with diabetes mellitus

: A study was made of 43 patients suffering from diabetes mellitus using the method of proteinuria selectivity on polyacrylamide gel. Two types of proteinuria were distinguished: the first type repeated the electrophoregram of the plasma proteins completely or partially, the second type--the selective one--was characterized by excretion of individual plasma proteins. Diagnostic and prognostic value of the method of proteinuria selectivity is discussed.
