ANTENNA SIMULATIONS FOR THE THZ AND SUBMM LIMB SOUNDER TELIS

This paper presents antenna simulations for the Terahertz and Submillimeter Limb Sounder TELIS, which is a balloonborne instrument for remote sensing of the atmosphere. The main objective of the Physical Optics analysis was to verify the optical design and to determine the aberrations and sidelobes of the antenna pattern. The simulations were repeated for different cases of misalignment, random surface errors and mirror distortions in order to determine the mechanical tolerances for the relay optics and the telescope.
