VERTICAL FOCUSING OF ELECTRON BEAM WITH CYLINDRICAL MAGNETIC LENSES IN AXIALLY SYMMETRIC RADIALLY GROWING MAGNETIC FIELD

1964
The focusing properties of the system were determined by measuring with a probe the electron current density in the chamber. The system was developed for effective vertical electron beam focusing in a radially growing axially symmetric leading field. The currents and first order trajectories were determined. Electron-optical properties indicate that the system can be efficiently utilized in a cyclotron to increase beam energy. The system may also be useful in developing various accelerators with continuous injection and radially growing leading fields. (R.V.J.)
